Swim Lessons (Beginning to Intermediate)
Sailors Level I & II
This class allows participants to acquaint themselves with the aquatic environment. Topics covered in this class include, breathing control, floating, prone glide, back float, arm strokes, kicking, and other elementary skills.
Navigators Level III
This class is designed for participants who have developed the elementary skills of swimming. Participants will be able to develop the front crawl stroke and backstroke techniques. In addition, children will be taught safety skills, self-rescue skills, and be introduced to diving. Prerequisite: Sailor Level II swimming skills.
Voyagers Level IV
This class will review previous level swimming skills and introduce new swimming strokes. This class is designed to improve stamina and coordination. Participants will learn breaststroke, sidestroke, and safety skills. Prerequisite: Navigator Level III swimming skills
Pirates Level V
This class will coordinate, refine, and polish all the skills learned in the previous levels. The butterfly stroke, open turns and surface dives will be introduced. Emphasis is placed on developing efficiency, power, and endurance. Prerequisite: Voyager Level IV swimming skills
Pre-Competitive Swim Class VI
Participants will improve swimming skills by refining the competitive strokes learned in previous classes. Participants will also be prepared for competitive swimming. Flip turns, competitive starts and dives will also be taught. Prerequisite: Pirate Level V. This class may be repeated.
